Musical Pairings: Love Theme

This just an attempt to play with song titles to create  a poem  (Hope you like it)

Do you know the songs?  Well if  you don’t try to look them up or drop me a line and I’ll tell you, because not only do the titles make a nice poem, they are musical gems.

What about love?
*
Is this love?
Tainted Love
*
When you tell me that you love me
Dance me to the end of love
*
Love me tender
Justify my love
*
Love is a battlefield
Dare to Love
*
***
*
Too much love will kill you
Wear your love like heaven
*
Love lifts us up to where we belong
Love comes tumbling
*
Love is the seventh wave
Love changes everything
*
Lay all your love on me
Love don’t cost a thing
*
***
*
Ain’t no cure for love
Love is all around
*
Baby I love your way
Love you inside out
*
Love you ’til the day I die
Love you out loud
*
I Can’t help falling in love
Love is stronger than Pride
*

With thanks and appreciation to all the great musicians

Tolerance

So here’s the deal, every week or so, I will pick a theme write a little about it and post Three or Four songs about it and let you vote which you like the most.

I’ve had the idea for this blog for a while now, and I so resisted starting it with a Valentine Day theme. One because I believe love deserves more than one day so I’m planning a whole month of love themes but not in the traditional sense, and secondly because with all that’s taking place in the world there are other issues that I believe music can help us understand and deal with.

So for this week I picked Tolerance.  So much is happening , so many events, revolutions, uprisings, talks opinions, but without tolerance the end can be catastrophic.  We need to learn to listen, tolerate and accept, we don’t have to necessarily agree, but we need to make the effort to try and understand that our views are not the only one.  I once read something that stayed with me:

Understanding does not mean common interests.  Understanding does not mean an end to conflict.  Understanding is the beginning of discussion, and  movement towards engagement which may be very uncomfortable.

So let us try to understand with music.

The Three nominated songs for this week are:

Following are the links to the songs. Enjoy!

1. When I’m Gone by: 3 Doors
When your education X-Ray
Cannot see under my skin
I won’t tell you a damn thing
That I could not tell my friends
Roaming through this darkness
I’m alive but I’m alone

2. How to Save a Life by: The Fray
Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

3. Free Your Mind by: Envogue
Why oh why must it be this way
Before you can read me you gotta
Learn how to see me, I said
Free your mind and the rest will follow
Be color blind, don’t be so shallow
